Danish Flyver March Ribbon (Royal Danish Air Force March)
The ribbon U.S. soldiers earned by rucking 20 kilometers with a 23-pound ruck - approved for wear on the Army Service Uniform since the late-2025 update to AR 600-8-22, Appendix D.
The event
The Royal Danish Air Force March dates to the 1970s. The rules are specific: 20 km (12.4 miles) on a military installation, facility, or training area - no exceptions - carrying a minimum 10 kg (23 lb) dry weight, in uniform, with at least two participants and designated event leadership. There is no official time limit.
In August 2026, roughly 50,000 soldiers took part at installations worldwide, from Fort Stewart to Camp Humphreys. Many held the heavier 35-pound infantry standard used for EIB/ESB validation. Finishers received a certificate signed by the march's creator, Sgt Lasse Bak Gustafson, plus the patch, medal, and ribbon bearing the winged logo of the Royal Danish Air Force.
