The unit is rare in that it was formed and has spent most of its life on non-American soil.The 4th Battalion 31st Infantry currently serves as part of the 2nd Brigade, 10th Mountain Division stationed in Fort Drum, New York. The unit has deployed on multiple deployments to Iraqi and Afghanistan.They also took part of the mission of the philippines, korea and vietnam.
